All The Above? What?

All The Above is the sometimes comical, sometimes inspirational and sometimes educational blog and website of Fernando Alcantara. Fernando, a jack of all trades, provides insight and humorous anecdotes from his life and explorations of the things he finds interesting.

All The Above refers to the absurdity of our lives, likening it to a multiple choice test. As in life, there is usually no clear-cut, singular answer to all our questions. If only every question in the multiple choice test that is our lives, had an All The Above box, I would check it.

All The Above is about life and all that is has to offer. From the mundane and trivial to the so-called purposeful and insightful.
Thanks for reading, and check All The Above.

All I Need Is... 80 G's

The 2009 Nissan GT-RThere are things you need and there are things you want. You need to eat, but you want a fat juicy rib-eye. You need to sleep, but you want to party all night long. You need a job but you want to work no more than 3 days week.

The problem with this need/want equation is finding the happy medium that wil quell the desires of both sides. For the most part, your NEEDs side will get what it wants but, your WANTs side is always left wanting more.

Well, I WANT this car and NEED 80 grand to get it!

The Nissan GT-R is a sports car for all people who love to drive faster than is absolutely necessary. (My hand is raised high) This thing goes zero to 60 in about 3 and a half seconds, Twin turbos V6, 480 HP, 430 foot pounds of torque. Good lord.

The GT-R is the long-awaited version made for the US. The Japanese have been hoarding this car to themselves and is known as the Skyline overseas. Only really, really rich guys have been able to get their hands on them and will still only be sold to really, really rich guys. I don't imagine that I'd be able to trade-in my Civic Si for this baby.

The Japanese Interior

If I owned this car, I would be guaranteed to have speeding tickets galore. But, luckily I live in Southern California where there's no way in hell I'd be able to let it loose when there's nothing but bumper to bumper traffic on every freeway here. I'd have to sleep during the day, so I can drive at night.

I'd only imagine that owning this car would just be frustrating seeing as how it's a genuine race car and NEEDS to be gunned. A car like this is not meant for leisurely drives to the 7-11 for some cigarettes or taking mom to the airport. You'd have to play hookie on a regular basis and take it up to Angeles Crest to play cat-n-mouse with the Rough Riders and crotch-rocket pilots in the twisty canyons.

Watch these videos for more looks at my next car.

This car is still european, Renault owns a very large portion of Nissan and hence the injection of so much into Nissan, and Renaults are very famous for turbocharging. Renault ELF has also been very popular and powerful in formula 1 for a very long time.
